The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
