The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
