Surely those who guard (against evil) shall have with their Lord gardens of bliss. 34 What! shall We then make (that is, treat) those who submit as the guilty? 35 What is amiss with you? On what do you base your judgment [of right and wrong]? 36 Do you have a book from which you study 37 that (in the Hereafter) you shall have all that you choose for yourselves? 38 Do you have a covenant with Us which allows you to do whatever you want until the Day of Judgment? 39 Ask them, which of them will stand surety for that! 40 Or have they any partners? Let them bring their partners then, if what they say is true. 41 On the day when there shall be a severe affliction, and they shall be called upon to make obeisance, but they shall not be able, 42 Their eyes will be cast down,- ignominy will cover them; seeing that they had been summoned aforetime to bow in adoration, while they were whole, (and had refused). 43 Hence, leave Me alone with such as give the lie to this tiding. We shall bring them low, step by step, without their perceiving how it has come about: 44 A (long) respite will I grant them: truly powerful is My Plan. 45 Or, do you ask them for a wage, so that they are burdened with debt? 46 Or [do they think] that the hidden reality [of all that exists] is within their grasp, so that [in time] they can write it down? 47 But wait thou for thy Lord's decree, and be not like him of the fish, who cried out in despair. 48 Had not grace from his Lord reached him, he had surely been cast into the wilderness in a plight. 49 His Lord therefore chose him and made him among those deserving His proximity. 50 And lo! those who disbelieve would fain disconcert thee with their eyes when they hear the Reminder, and they say: Lo! he is indeed mad; 51 Yet it is purely an admonition to mankind. 52
