The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
