Noah called to Us, and We are the Best to answer. 75 We delivered him and his household from the great calamity; 76 And made his seed the survivors, 77 We perpetuated his praise in later generations. 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the nations. 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 Verily he was of Our bondmen believing. 81 Then We drowned the others. 82 ۞ And Abraham indeed was of his inducement, 83 he came to his Lord with a sound heart. 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 “What! You desire, through fabrication, Gods other than Allah?” 86 What do you think about the Lord of the Universe?" 87 Then he looked at the stars, looking up once, 88 He then said, “I feel sick (of you)!” 89 And they turned their backs on him and went away. (The pagans thought he would transmit the disease). 90 Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak? 92 He struck them with his right hand. 93 [But] then the others came towards him hurriedly [and accused him of his deed]. 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 “Whereas Allah has created you and your actions?” 96 They said: Build for him a furnace, then cast him into the burning fire. 97 But whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We [frustrated their designs, and thus] brought them low? 98 And he said, “Indeed I shall go to my Lord Who will guide me.” 99 My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous. 100 (In response to this prayer) We gave him the good news of a prudent boy; 101 And when he attained the age of running with him, he said: O my son! verily I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee; so look, what considerest thou? He said: O my father! do that which thou art commanded; thou shalt find me, Allah willing, of the patients. 102 Then (remember) when they both submitted to Allah’s command, and Ibrahim lay his son facing downwards. (The knife did not hurt Ismail) 103 We called out to him: "O Abraham, 104 thou hast already fulfilled [the purpose of] that dream-vision!" Thus, verily, do We reward the doers of good: 105 Lo! that verily was a clear test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and We preserved for him a good name among posterity. 108 Peace be upon Abraham. 109 That is how We reward those who do good. 110 For he was one of our believing Servants. 111 And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself. 113
