Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 Some faces that Day shall be Nadirah (shining and radiant). 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and some faces on that Day will be gloomy, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Never so, for when life withdraws into the clavicula, 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
