The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 there is none to avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
