The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
