Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
