The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man. 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate themselves. 6 And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice), 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And grain chaffed and other food. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
