The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
