A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is a Book sent down toward thee, so let there be no straitness in thy breast therefor, that thou mayest warn thereby! and this is an admonition unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers.'; 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 And verily, We shall recount their whole story with knowledge, for We were never absent (at any time or place). 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 And as for those whose scale is light: those are they who lose their souls because they used to wrong Our revelations. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
