The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
