The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
