And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And We produce therein orchard with date-palms and vines, and We cause springs to gush forth therein: 34 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 35 Exaltations to Him who created pairs of all the things the earth produces and of themselves, and that of which they have no knowledge. 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 We have determined the stations of the moon, so that (after its wanderings) it returns as a dried up inflorescent spike of dates. 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 Had We wanted, We could have drowned them and nothing would have been able to help or rescue them 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 They also say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak truly?' 48 They wait not for aught but a single cry which will overtake them while they yet contend with one another. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
