The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
