Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
