The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
