Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 and, verily, we too extol His limitless glory!" 166 They say, 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. 180 So peace be on the messengers, 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
