He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 you attended to him, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 Olives and dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
