Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups set at hand. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
