The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 For a mighty day, 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
