The Thamud accused the messengers of lies. 141 Their brother Salih asked them, "Why do you not fear God? 142 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 143 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 Within gardens and springs 147 "And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)? 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 who spread evil in the land with no reform." 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 159

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
