In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
