The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
