The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
