The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a Great Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
