The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
