HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 and caused them to be covered with that which He covered them with. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 and none but Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this announcement? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him. (Command of Prostration # 12) ۩ 62
