He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 So you are after him! 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
