The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
