The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great event, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
