The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sky (bespangled) with the signs of the Zodiac, 1 And the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Accursed be the People of the Ditch! 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 Behold! they sat over against the (fire), 6 And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy 8 Who, to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and women without repenting will suffer the torment of hell and that of the burning fire. 10 Verily those who believed and worked righteous works, theirs shall be Gardens whereunder the rivers flow; that is the supreme achievement. 11 The grip of your Lord is severe indeed! 12 It is He who creates all things and causes them to return. 13 And He is the Fogiving, the Loving, 14 The Lord of the glorious Throne, 15 The Doer of whatever He wants. 16 HAS IT ever come within thy ken, the story of the [sinful] hosts 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 Yet the infidels persist in denial. 19 And Allah is after them, has them surrounded. 20 This is indeed the glorious Qur'an 21 (Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)! 22
