The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
