The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
