He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
