The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ They ask you about the spoils of war. Say, "They belong to God and His Messenger. So fear God, and set things right among yourselves, and obey God and His Messenger, if you are true believers: 1 Those only are believers whose hearts become full of fear when Allah is mentioned, and when His communications are recited to them they increase them in faith, and in their Lord do they trust. 2 who pray regularly and give in alms out of what We have provided for them. 3 Such people are indeed true believers. They have high ranks with their Lord, and forgiveness for their sins and an honourable sustenance. 4 A group among the believers dislike (God's decree about the booty captured in war) as well as His command that you come out of your home for a truthful purpose (to fight for justice). 5 Disputing with you regarding the truth after it had been made clear, as if they were being herded towards a visible death. 6 And recall what time Allah was promising you one of the two parties that it should be yours, and ye would fain that the one without arms was yours; whilst Allah besought to justify the truth by His words and to cut off the root of the infidels. 7 So that Truth may be affirmed and falsehood negated, even though the sinners be averse. 8 Remember when you prayed to your Lord for help, He heard you and said: "I shall send a thousand angels following behind you for your aid." 9 Allah made it only as glad tidings, and that your hearts be at rest therewith. And there is no victory except from Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. 10
