The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
