Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 and Thamood, and He did not spare them, 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Will you, then, wonder at this? 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
