'Aad denied the messengers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 amply provided you with flocks, and children, 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
