This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 To (communicate) to your heart that you may be a warner 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 verily, [even] from hearing it are they utterly debarred! 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 Warn your close relatives 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you on whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
