At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
