Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 and the severally severing 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 that which you have been promised shall be fulfilled. 7 When the stars shall be extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time 11 to what day shall they be deferred? 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times? 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 Thus do We deal with the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.)! 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you of a mean fluid, 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 for an appointed term? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 Proceed to that (the Day of Judgment) which you have rejected. 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse. 36 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 If you now have any conspiracy, carry it out on Me. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
