The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
