The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
