And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
