The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 on lavish couches 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
