The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 for a great Day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
