I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
