The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their fellowman Lut said to them, “Do you not fear?” 161 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 leaving your wives that your Lord created for you? Nay, but you are a people of transgressors. 166 'Lot' they replied, 'if you do not desist, you shall be thrown out' 167 He said, “I am disgusted with your works.” 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
